At the end of the pandemic school year in May, enrollment for the Piedmont Public Schools district was up, as population of the city of Piedmont, Oklahoma City and unincorporated parts of Canadian and Kingfisher counties increases.
Classes were five days a week and in-person by the end of the 2020-2021 school year after much of the year for older students carried on with two or three day a week alternate scheduling due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Students will not be required to wear masks when classes start this fall.
The first day of school for Piedmont students pre-kindergarten through 12th grades will be Thursday, Aug. 12.
The end of the year enrollment in May for the entire district was 4,526.
A new softball and baseball complex is expected to be completed in the district this fall.
The $5.8 million complex is expected to be completed Sept. 1. The first fast pitch softball game is scheduled for 12 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, at Pryor. Other schedules are being made for fall sports.
The defending state champion cross country boys and the girls varsity will open the season with a meet at Deer Creek Saturday, Aug. 21. The football and softball schedules are out.
