Piedmont football opens season Sept. 3 at El Reno

Are you ready for some football?

Ready or not, it’s on its way around the country and in Piedmont.

The Wildcats will open the 2021 season on Friday, Sept. 3 with a road trip west on I-40 to face archrival El Reno.

Piedmont hammered the Indians, 31-7 to open the 2020 season, but lost the rematch, 41-14, in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs.

In Week 2, Piedmont will host Putnam City North at F&M Bank Stadium for its home opener, Sept. 10.

Piedmont closes its non-district slate at Noble Sept. 17.

PHS begins district play Sept. 24 when it hosts Guthrie. The Blue Jays and Wildcats had their scheduled matchup canceled last season due to COVID-19.

A week later, Guymon comes to F&M Bank Stadium Oct. 1. Piedmont travels to Western Heights Oct. 8.

The first of two Thursday games on the schedule will take place the week of Fall Break when the ‘Cats play at defending Class 5A state champion Carl Albert on Oct. 14.

Piedmont hosts 5A state runner-up Bishop McGuinness, Friday, Oct. 22.

Next, the Wildcats travel to Lawton Eisenhower on a short week to the play the Eagles Thursday, Oct. 28.

The Wildcats close the regular season at home Nov. 5 against Woodward.

Piedmont finished 5-4 last season and advanced to the second round of the playoffs.
