Jeremy Philo towered over the other cowboys, reenactors and others at the Piedmont Freedom Fest Parade Sunday on Piedmont Road.
Philo is an acrobat who has also performed recently at the Piedmont Public Library. Sunday, it was all about The Fourth of July.
Local Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and State Rep. Denise Crosswhite Hader and County Commissioner Marc Hader rode in the parade.
The Frontier Freedom Fest parade filled the streets, and Philo even danced to the fiddle music played by Wayne Cantwell of Del City who specializes in old time music, and the traditional music of the open prairie, he said.
“Today I’m a big cowboy,” Philo said.
Reagan Clark, 13, Haley Mayo, 15, and Cassye Mayo, 17, wore their patriotic red, white and blue hats for the parade.
David Trammel worked at the team sorting competitions at the Piedmont Round-up Club.
“It’s going real good. We’ve got a great crowd, and we have more than 100 teams.
Fireworks are set to begin at dusk. Inflatables to bounce, and a petting zoo and pony rides were part of the festivities.
The Canadian County Tough Riders club of Piedmont took part in the parade. Kendal Brunk, Yukon, Isabella Montoya, 14, of Cashion and Kylee Detrick rode in the parade.
Johnny Woods country band started on the Junklahoma Simpson Grain Elevator stage off Monroe Avenue at 7 p.m.
