A previously rough stretch of road in northeast Canadian County has been improved, and a new smooth surface greets motorists on the county line.

County Line Road, the border of Oklahoma and Canadian counties, has been resurfaced at a cost of $1 million between N.W. 206/Apache Road, and N.W. 248/Waterloo Road, said Marc Hader, Canadian County Commissioner for District One.

The resurfacing job was a joint project between Canadian County and Oklahoma County.

“The collaborative road reconstruction project of County Line Road, (from 206th to 248th) between Canadian County and Oklahoma County is coming together nicely,” Hader said.

This week, striping and shoulder work remained to be completed, but the roadway has been opened to traffic. Work on shoulders with asphalt milling will begin next week, Hader said.

“Thanks to Oklahoma County Commissioner Kevin Calvey and Oklahoma County Superintendent Ron Cardwell and their District 3 (Oklahoma County) crew for partnering with our Canadian County District 1 crew to reconstruct 3 miles,” Hader said.

The work is being completed by Atlas Paving.

“That’s a pretty good value to the taxpayers. This project improves all of the unincorporated portion of County Line Road for which the counties are responsible,” Hader said.

Hader said the project would not have been completed without the collaborative efforts.
