Joyce E. McCoy, 65, of Topeka, Kansas, formerly of Piedmont, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021, at Oakley Place 2 in Topeka.
She was born June 24, 1955, in Topeka, the daughter of Maurice L. and Mary E. (Logan) Gleason. Joyce grew up in the Dover community and graduated from Mission Valley High School in 1973.
Joyce worked for Whelan’s; she was a legal secretary for Frank Rice and then Joe Patton. She moved to McPherson, Kansas where she managed an apartment complex. Joyce move to Tulsa in 1985 where she transcribed court documents and later owned and operated Feet First, a children’s shoe store, before retiring and moving to Piedmont.
On July 24, 1982, she was married to Timothy E. McCoy. He passed away on October 18, 2019. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her children, Matthew (Ashlyn) McCoy, Newnan, Georgia; and Melinda (Derek) Muegge, Piedmont; her siblings, Kevin (Brenda) Gleason, Uniontown, Steve (Mary) Gleason, Maple Hill, and Rhonda (Robert) McCelland, Maple Hill; a brother-in-law, Tom (Teresa) McCoy, Bay Town, TX; a grandchild, Preston “PJ”; nieces and nephews, Chase (Aubry), Reed, Jake, Becky (Pat), Ben, Joe (Morgan), Sam, Robert (Cate), Rodger (Raylee), RaeLynn (Aaron), Dannielle, and Jessica; great-nieces and nephews, Ryker, Wyatt, Grayson, Shailee and Jaelyn.
Family and friends will have a Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at Maple Hill. Inurnment will be at a later date in Oklahoma City.
