Over the past few months, business partners Thania Mayfield and Wes McKasson put their skill sets together and opened Harvest Hub at 1885 N. Piedmont Road in Piedmont. The new venue is up and running and going full steam ahead. They’re already offering kitchen space rental, a market with all kinds of healthy goodies to buy, classes, and more.
Harvest Hub is a manufacturing kitchen home for all of Earth Shelter Garden project baking needs and Fancy Feathered Farms elderberry syrup production.
As well, the location rents the kitchen space to those who hold a manufacturing license. Bakers looking to maximize their production would benefit from utilizing the location’s space. Contact Harvest Hub for rental rates.
A market is on site, offering such wholesome goodies as farm fresh eggs, honey, seasonal produce, and baked goods including gluten free options. But Harvest Hub is not currently open on specific days during certain hours. Rather, the location has pop up market days that are announced on the Facebook page, with information about what items will be for sale on those days.
Classes are already offered at the location, and the current list of great offerings includes: Taught by Jennifer Kremeier of Piedmont, “Adult Easter Cookie Decorating Class” on March 27 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. is sold out; Taught by Jennifer Kremeier of Piedmont, “Kids Easter Cookie Decorating Class” on March 28 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. for ages six and up, but one (only one) adult must accompany each child. Each child takes home two Easter cookies. Maximum of six students plus their adults allowed for this class; Canadian County’s Tiffani Sims will teach “Sip and Stitch Crochet Class” on March 30 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. for adults, with no crochet experience needed. If you wish, bring your own bottle of wine. Each participant will receive one skein of cotton yarn, a crochet hook, and a pattern; Tiffani Sims will teach “Kids Crochet Basics” on March 31 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. for ages six and up, only one adult must accompany each child. Children will learn how to make, and go home with, a basic crocheted bracelet or necklace, and information sheet for more ideas to crochet at home. A limit of six students for this class; Wes McKasson will teach “Sourdough Basics” on April 10 from 4 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., a hands-on class that covers the basics of making sourdough bread from maintaining a starter culture to fermenting, shaping, and baking dough. Class participants leave with a sourdough starter, bench knife, bowl scraper, and the know how to bake sourdough bread at home. There are only six spaces available.
Fees for all classes are shown on the Harvest Hub Facebook page, where those interested will find a place to purchase tickets.
More classes are coming in the near future including gluten free cooking classes, as well as elderberry specific classes.
