Filing period set for Piedmont City Council races

An election date has been set for two Piedmont City Council seats.

The filing period will open for Ward IV and Ward II seats in February.

John Brown, former city councilman in Ward IV resigned last year. Jack Jackson was appointed to fill the unexpired term.

Candidates can file between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 1 to Wednesday, Feb. 3 at the Canadian County Election Board in El Reno, 200 S. Bickford Ave.

The Piedmont City Council met in a special meeting Wednesday, Jan. 13, to sign documents to submit to the election board to declare the elections.

The city council seat in Piedmont is a three-year term. The mayor is elected by residents for four-year terms.

Bobby Williamson is the incumbent in Ward II.
