All of Canadian and Kingfisher counties will be under a winter storm watch on Thursday, New Year’s Eve, the National Weather Service reports.

A wintry mix of precipitation is possible. Snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches is possible in central, northern, northwest, southwest and western parts of the state, the weather service reports. About a quarter inch of ice accumulation is possible under the snow.

The wintry mix is possible from Thursday afternoon through New Year’s Day Friday morning, the weather service reports.

Travel could be difficult in hazardous, slick conditions, the weather service reports.

For Wednesday afternoon, there is a 20% chance of rain or snow. Thursday will start off sunny before a 50% chance of a wintry mix moves in during the afternoon. Thursday night, New Year’s Eve, there is a 90% chance for a wintry mix.

There is a 40% chance for more rain or snow on New Year’s Day before skies start to clear during the afternoon and the high temperature reaches 36 degrees.

Saturday will be mostly sunny with a high temperature near 43. Sunday will be sunny with a high near 48 degrees, the weather service reports.
