COVID-19 cases are now being tracked by Piedmont Schools officials, and the cases have been reported on the district’s website.
As of Friday, Oct. 2, there were five staff members and 18 students who have tested positive for COVID-19, the district reports.
The quarantine period is 14 days, said school spokeswoman Riley Thomas.
Thomas said both the eighth grade and ninth grade football teams have completed their recent quarantine periods after exposures were reported.
The district has 309 students quarantined as of Oct. 2 and 22 staff members quarantined.
Of those, 153 students at Northwood Elementary School have been quarantined and four students have tested positive.
Northwood has also had four staff members test positive and eight staff members quarantined.
The breakdown follows:
Piedmont has had two staff members quarantined who work in district administrative offices.
Piedmont High School has had eight students test positive and 73 students quarantined.
The high school has had three staff members quarantined.
Piedmont Middle School has had two students positive and 13 quarantined. There have been six staff members quarantined and one staff member test positive at the middle school.
Piedmont Intermediate School reports two students positive, 25 students and one staff member quarantined.
Stone Ridge Elementary has had 15 students and one staff member quarantined.
Piedmont Elementary School has had one student test positive and 10 students quarantined.
Northwood Elementary has had four students test positive and 153 students quarantined.
District officials want to remind parents not to send their students to school if they are sick or have any symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, nausea vomiting or diarrhea. Also, do not send students to school if someone in the household is sick or if anyone has been exposed to someone who is positive for COVID-19.
