The Piedmont City Council slowed down on a proposed road improvement tax at a meeting Monday night.
The $28 monthly tax proposed for $1.5 million in work was tabled in a regular meeting of the council.
City Attorney Michael Segler said there had been concerned that not enough notice had been given about the public hearing portion of the meeting.
The council had proposed the $28 tax to be charged on utility bills for two years to raise the funds for the plan.
A special election date of Jan. 12 would have been set for residents to decide the issue, had the council members not tabled the items.
