GUTHRIE – The Piedmont Wildcats football game against the Guthrie Bluejays was canceled Friday night due to COVID-19 reports from the Guthrie side.
The Piedmont team was en route to the game when notified by telephone about 4:45 p.m. that a decision had been made by Guthrie officials to cancel the game, according to reports.
The Piedmont team returned home after the call.
Guthrie players will be quarantined, according to The Guthrie News Leader.
The 3-0 Bluejays await a decision on the remainder of their season, the newspaper reports.
The 2-1 Wildcats are scheduled to play in Guymon Friday, Oct. 2. Check The Piedmont-Surrey Gazette for local news updates.
