A Piedmont teenager died Monday night in a single-vehicle, rollover crash, Police Chief Scott Singer said.
Jackson Kerby, 17, a Piedmont High School senior, died about 11:45 p.m. Monday in the wreck just north of NW 164 and east of Sara Road, Singer said.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
Piedmont police officers have been assisted by Oklahoma City’s police fatality unit investigators, Singer said.
“We appreciate Oklahoma City’s fatality team assisting us in such accident investigations,” Singer said.
Piedmont was under a severe thunderstorm warning late Monday night, and heavy rain was reported with high, straight line winds in the area, the National Weather Service reported.
“Weather could have played a factor in it,” Singer said.
Kerby was driving a Toyota Tundra pickup when he crashed. It was not known if he wore a seat belt.
The pickup rolled and careened over a tin horn drainage structure and hit a chain link fence, Singer said.
