A paving company has submitted the low bid for the upcoming Piedmont Road resurfacing project.
The Piedmont City Council unanimously approved the bid from Schwarz Paving of Oklahoma City at a Monday, Aug. 24 regular Piedmont council meeting.
Schwarz Paving submitted a bid of $803,283.31 for repaving Piedmont Road from Apache Road/NW 206 north to Ash Road/NW 220.
The mile of work will be completed with a 7-inch asphalt overlay.
The work will take 60 days to complete. The date for the start of the work has not been announced but is expected soon, said City Manager Jason Orr.
The Piedmont City Council is also expected to set an election date soon to ask residents if they will fund a citywide streets and roads improvement plan with a $28 utility bill tax increase.
Orr said the work on Piedmont Road will give residents a glimpse of what could come if voters approve the plan. An election date for the $28 tax question has not been set.
“This (Piedmont Road work) will give citizens of Piedmont the opportunity to see a road done the right way so people can make up their own minds if they want future projects like this one,” Orr said.
