Piedmont’s sales and use tax revenues received in August from the Oklahoma Tax Commission show local spending is increasing compared to last year.
Use tax in Piedmont is up 84.12% for August.
The August check from the tax commission is for a period of June and July.
Sales tax dropped during the pandemic in March and April. Use tax has been on the rise with more people working and shopping from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Use tax revenue for Piedmont residents in Canadian County for August is $74,357 compared to $40,383 in August, 2019.
That is a $33,974 increase, or 84.12%.
The sales tax revenue for August hit $196,571 this year compared to $186,423 last year, a $10,148 increase, or 5.44%.
Sales tax revenue was down 11% in June as the economy was affected in April and May compared to the same time last year.
