Flash flood watch issued in area Friday

There is a chance for heavy rain Friday afternoon and evening in the Piedmont area, the National Weather Service reported.

Grady and Oklahoma counties are under a flash flood watch until 7 a.m. Saturday.

Canadian County’s hazardous weather outlook shows a chance for thunderstorms with downpours Friday in areas. Up to 2 inches of rain is possible in areas east of Piedmont.

The Piedmont area forecast follows:

A 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 76. Southeast wind 13 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.
Tonight
A 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could be severe. Cloudy, with a low around 61. South southeast wind 6 to 13 mph becoming east, northeast after midnight. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Saturday
Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. West southwest wind around 7 mph becoming east northeast in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
