Local grocery store management hopes to have shelves full in two weeks

The shelves at Williams Foods were fully stocked this week with essentials such as toilet paper.
And more truckloads are coming, said owner Jeff Williams.
The essentials at the store, 410 Piedmont Road, had been hit hard by shoppers in recent weeks as the COVID-19 pandemic swept into the state. And shoppers stockpiled the bath tissue and other items.
Shoppers in recent weeks were buying “three times” the normal volume of goods, Williams said.
“We have the best supply system in the world in the United States, but no supplier could keep up,” Williams said.
He said the store supplies on shelves are expected to continue to be more sustainable.
“You will see a big difference at the end of this week,” Williams said.
He said buyers were hoarding previously, which caused supplies to be low, so people should limit amounts of purchases.
In the store, precautions are being taken to keep the COVID-19 virus at bay.
People are urged to stay 6 feet apart, and staff is spending extra time wiping cash registers, credit card machines, and customers and employees are using hand-sanitizers frequently.
“As long as people do not hoard we will be able to handle this better,” Williams said.
