No. 2 Piedmont opened regional tournament play with a 71-33 win over Santa Fe South Thursday night at Collett Fieldhouse.
The Wildcats (20-4) advance to take on Guthrie (11-11) in the regional finals Saturday. Guthrie defeated Shawnee 41-36 Thursday night in the first game at Collett. Piedmont recently defeated the Blue Jays 32-28 Feb. 21 on the road and also won 54-31 at home on Jan. 21.
Tip off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The winner advances to the area championship game next Thursday and will be one win away from the state tournament.
