A Canadian County Sheriff’s deputy died Friday morning in a head-on collision on Northwest Expressway in Oklahoma City limits, police said.

The deputy has been identified as Shirley Lanning.

Police have blocked off traffic in Northwest

Expressway for all eastbound and westbound traffic between Morgan and Sara roads. The collision occurred at about 9:30 a.m. Feb. 14.

“We got a call at 9:22 this morning of a head-on collision on NW Expressway at East Drive (between Morgan and Sara),” said Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Megan L. Morgan. “It appears there were two vehicles involved, one being a Canadian County Sheriff’s deputy’s vehicle. The two civilians were injured, but are stable with non-life-threatening injuries.

from her vehicle, and transported to a local hospital. Unfortunately, she has been pronounced deceased. We are currently coordinating with Canadian County, but hope to have more information this afternoon.
