Piedmont ranked as state’s safest city

Piedmont ranked as one of the safest cities in Oklahoma, a study reveals.

Piedmont has the highest safety score in the state at 88.97 according to Security Baron, a security review website.

The study was based on FBI rankings of crime rates to find out what the top 50 safest cities are in Oklahoma, to determine its score.

Piedmont has a rate of just 4.14 property crimes per 1,000 people and a violent crime rate of 0.65 per 1,000 citizens.

Nearby Mustang ranked second and Yukon 11, El Reno 17, and Bethany 41.

The last city that emerged on the top 50 list is Enid (population 51,257) with a safety score of 65.62.

The city also has a rate of 3.39 violent crimes per 1,000 people and a rate of 34.16 property crimes per 1,000.

Of all cities ranked in Oklahoma, Poteau was the worst at 75.
