Volleyball: Wildcats cap tough road stretch with losses to Chisholm, Noble

The Wildcats dropped a pair of matches last week as their eight-match road trip came to an end.

Piedmont (4-15) fell to Class 3A No. 6 Chisholm (18-4) in three sets last Thursday before falling to No. 9 Noble (21-5) in four sets Tuesday night.

The Cats battled in the first two sets against Chisholm, pushing the Longhorns to extra points, but falling 26-24 and 28-26. Chisholm then ran away with the third set 25-12.

Piedmont finished with 33 kills in the match, including eight from junior Gracie Myatt, seven from sophomore Joanna Hunter and six from freshman Kaylie Marshall. Freshman Macy Lee led the team with 16 set assists while freshman Heather Houston finished with 13. Defensively, senior Shelby Willy and Myatt led the way with 12 digs while Marshall finished with nine. Marshall also finished with two blocks.

Piedmont opened with a big, 25-22 win in the first set against the Bears, but dropped the next three sets 25-11, 25-21 and 25-13 for the team’s sixth straight loss.

Senior Jada Ellis finished with 10 of the team’s 35 kills in the match while Myatt finished with eight. Lee led the way with 18 assists while Hunter finished with 14. Freshman Chloe Parker led the team with 15 digs defensively while sophomore Leyla Rallo finished with 12.

Piedmont finally returns home Thursday to host Class 4A No. 11 Weatherford (16-5) before hosting Class 6A No. 7 Deer Creek (18-6) Monday. Both matches are scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
