Storms raged through Piedmont Monday flooding roads and causing power outages.
Piedmont city offices received a report from OG&E that showed 3,691 homes were temporarily without power Monday afternoon and evening as the storms hit.
“Part of 234th washed out and has some damage on it and right now the road is closed,” City Manager Jason Orr said Wednesday afternoon. “Early estimates will cost $200,000 on that.”
Near Piedmont, other roads were washed out, including NW 178 and Rockwell Avenue, which looked like a large lake, photographs show.
While about 12 percent of the cost could be recovered through state funds, Orr said FEMA money is not yet available so the cost will be shifted to the city.
“That’s good reason to keep your reserve funds in adequate shape,” Orr said. “You never know when this stuff is going to happen.”
Police Chief Scott Singer reported there were no accidents, water rescues or injuries reported.
