Piedmont was well represented when District 5A-2 honors were handed out last week, featuring 11 seniors, including Braden Culp as Iron Man of the Year.
The Cats also added six First Team All-District players as well as three to the Second Team and one Honorable Mention.
Wide receiver Jack Chester, offensive lineman Zac Moser, defensive lineman Zach Zeno, defensive backs Baylor Hendren and Brady Thomas and kick Justus Flores were all named to the District 5A-2 First Team. Receiver Bryceson Henry, lineman Jack Ramsey and defensive back Connor Hawkins were named to the Second Team and lineman Nathan Rempe was named Honorable Mention.
Culp led the team with 103 tackles, including 14 tackles for loss and five sacks. He also picked off two passes this year, earning him the Iron Man award.
Chester led the team in receiving, catching a team-high 32 passes for 392 yards and seven touchdowns. He also returned one kickoff 86 yards for a score. Moser, Ramsey and Rempe helped lead a stout offensive attack in the trenches, spurring Piedmont to over 1,700 yards rushing and over 1,600 passing, including 40 total touchdowns.
Zeno finished the year with 43 tackles, including seven for loss and a sack. He also forced a fumble. Hendren led the team with six interceptions, including two returned for touchdowns, as well finishing with 66 tackles and three forced fumbles. Thomas finished with 54 total tackles, including one for a loss.
Flores went 2-for-2 on field goal attempts this year with a long of 37 yards. He also went 20-fro-24 on extra-point tries and converted one two-point attempt with a two-yard run.
Henry caught 21 passes for 303 yards and four touchdowns while Hawkins finished with 10 total tackles and an interception return for a touchdown. He also rushed 13 times for 85 yards.
The Wildcats went 5-6 in 2018, including a 4-3 run in district-play. They defeated Weatherford, Lawton Ike, Guymon, Northwest Classen and Woodward while losing to El Reno, Noble, Guthrie, state champion Carl Albert, Bishop McGuinness and state runner-up Ardmore.
