Aline Lena Starry

Aline Lena Starry, 97, entered Heaven’s gates on November 30, 2018.

Aline was born on June 26, 1921 in Lula, Oklahoma to Wade and Eva Thompson. At a young age, her parents taught her to know right from wrong, how to show respect to others, and the importance of taking responsibility for her actions.

Aline was thankful to have a family that showed her how to love one another, be kind and compassionate, and have patience. Aline was married to the love of her life, William (Bill) Starry, for 72 years and they raised four sons in the Piedmont area.

Aline sought to instill the values and morals she learned to her children at home. She believed in taking care of her health and would provide nutritious meals for her family while her love of outdoors and sports kept her physically active. When Aline asked Christ into her life, she vowed to serve and trust Him daily. She fulfilled her promise by putting God first in her life, praying often, and reading her Bible daily.

She wrote a beautiful poem describing her glimpse of Heaven and the longing to be there that has now finally been fulfilled. Aline loved her wonderful husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and was devoted to her First Baptist Church.

Aline is preceded in death by her husband, William Starry; parents, Wade and Eva Thompson; son, Walter Starry and his wife Linda; and great-grandson, Daniel Lehew. She is survived by three sons and their wives, Billy & Mary Lou Starry, Albert & Brenda Starry, and Keith & Linda Starry; three sisters, Ruth Irwin, Tawanna Hindman, and Lavonne Meacham; 8 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and special friends Charmaine Hogan and Chris Hopeman.

The family wishes to extend their thanks for the outstanding care by her nurse Kelly Peoples with Crossroads Hospice.

Her funeral service was held Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Piedmont, OK. Viewing was held Monday, December 3, 2018 from 10 AM – 8 PM with family greeting friends from 5 PM – 8 PM. Aline’s final resting place is at the Kansas Cemetery in Piedmont, Oklahoma.
