Piedmont kicked off the preseason at the Yukon Open Nov. 10 before the Midwest City Open last Saturday, placing 12 times overall in the tournaments combined.

The Wildcats placed six in the preseason opener at Yukon, including two wins at 220 and 170 pounds.

Senior Josh Heindselman, coming off a state championship run last season, won the open at 220 pounds while Austin Cooley won as well at 170 pounds. The duo was followed-up by three Wildcats who each finished second.

Mitchell Lance (132 pounds), Tabor McClure (145 pounds) and Bryce Digiancinto (152 pounds) each finished runner-up in their weight classes while Landis Scoon placed fourth at 152 pounds.

Piedmont placed seven in the team’s second preseason open at Midwest City, including a pair of winners once again at 220 and 170 pounds.

Heindselman picked up his second win at 220 pounds in the open as well as Cooley at 170 pounds.

Lance (132 pounds) finished runner-up for a second straight weekend while Alan Flores (113 pounds), Thomas Jenkins (160 pounds) and DiGiacinto (152 pounds) each placed third. Scoon rounded out the open with his second straight fourth-place finish at 152 pounds.

With the preseason tournaments scratched off the schedule the Wildcats will look to keep the things rolling as they prepare for their first two duals against Yukon at home on Nov. 29 and at El Reno on Dec. 4.
