FOOTBALL: WEEK 7 PREVIEW

Piedmont looks to make it two straight as they host the Guymon Tigers this Friday night.
Piedmont comes in off a 50-0 win over Lawton Ike last week, playing well on both sides of the ball. The rushing game for the Wildcats was prominent as they rushed for over 300 yards to pick up their first district win.
Watch out for more to come.
Colby Matlock, Dylan Hampton, Joey Mars and Bo Hardy have presented a monster combination in the Cats’ backfield. Matlock is two weeks back from an injury now and has provided the extra step the offense needed. Hampton is also back from injury after missing the Carl Albert game, providing balance both in the run and through the air. Mars and Hardy have been a strong one-two punch, especially around the goal line.
Piedmont’s defense obviously passed the test against the Eagles after pitching a shutout while forcing three turnovers. The Cats have played well at all three levels – the defensive line, linebackers and secondary. If they bring the same intensity as last week, Piedmont should have no problems with Guymon.
“I’m just proud of the work they’ve put in, especially the last two weeks. We’ve made an effort to be more physical and you can see that in the way we’ve been playing offense and defense. It was a really good night for the Wildcats,” coach Trent Worley said after his team’s win over Ike last week.
Guymon is 0-6 overall and 0-3 in district-play with losses Bishop McGuinness, Guthrie and Carl Albert over the last three weeks. They have been outscored 190-15 in those contests.
The Wildcats are still looking to keep their playoff hopes alive.
With a win over the Tigers, the Cats would improve to 2-2 in district-play with McGuinness, Northwest Classen and Woodward remaining on the schedule. With three wins over the next four weeks, Piedmont should secure a playoff spot.
Kickoff is set for Friday, October 12, 2018 at 7 p.m. – following homecoming.
