The Piedmont Service Center will be offering holiday food baskets and children’s Christmas needs to low income families again this year.
Applicants must reside in Piedmont, or have a 373 telephone prefix, 73078 zip code or have children enrolled in the Piedmont School District.
Applications may be picked up at the Piedmont Service Center, 415 Piedmont Road North from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m, Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
For those wanting to help with monetary donations, turkey or ham are appreciated.
Piedmont Service Center Director Dennis Owen said the Service Center volunteers have already started the preparation for the holiday food baskets.
The baskets will include turkeys, pies, vegetables and other items that constitute the all-American holiday dinner, Owen said.
“We buy some of these things locally and typically the single most need thing we have are turkeys, hams and other meat products,” he said. “We have a number of groups in the community that help us out.”
He said some of the groups in the Piedmont community that are helping with the food collection is the high school, who just completed their food drive. Also, the Service Center recently received a couple of generous checks from the Piedmont Kiwanis and a special donation was made by the United Methodist Church.
“We also received a generous donation from the Surrey Hills Home Association,” he said. “They sent us a generous check and donation.
