Purple Rein: PHS Swimmer signs with Evansville University

There was plenty to be thankful for last Tuesday night for the Piedmont seventh and eighth grade teams against Kingfisher at Collett Fieldhouse.

PHS Wildcat swimmers dominate at Kingfisher

With the colder temperatures hitting the area, the Piedmont swim team decided to heat things up last Thursday at Kingfisher.

Unfortunately, the water at the Vernie Snow Aquatic Center was anything but cool, as the warmer conditions made things difficult for the Wildcats and Lady Wildcats.

Nonetheless, the Wildcats still managed to claim their second straight meet, finishing in first place with a total of 415.50 points, way ahead of second place Deer Creek, who claimed 339 points. The Lady Wildcats finished in fifth place overall with 168 points while Kingfisher claimed first place on the day. Read more →

It’s been a solid start to the season for the Piedmont seventh and eighth grade Lady Wildcats basketball teams.

Joining the champions: Davis signs letter of intent to play at UCO

During her entire high school career, Piedmont catcher Bre Davis strived to be a champion not only on the field, but off the field as well.

Tuesday morning, she officially joined a group of champions at the college level.

In front of a standing room only crowd of her friends, family, coaches and classmates inside the Piedmont band room, Davis signed on the dotted line to officially make her commitment to the Central Oklahoma Lady Bronchos softball team, who just happen to be the defending national champions of division two softball. PHS State swim champ Rein commits to Evansville

Rein officially committed to attend college and swim for the University of Evansville in Indiana Monday night. Rein is currently a four-time defending state champion in swimming for Piedmont High School. EU is an NCAA Division 1 college and a member of the Missouri Valley Conference. While attending college, Rein will be majoring in nursing while swimming the 100 and 200-yard Butterfly events as a member of the Purple Aces swim team.

When it comes to Piedmont swimming, one name has always been at the forefront, Kasey Rein.

And with good reason as well. Not only is Rein one of the founding members of the Piedmont swim team, she’s also a four-time state champion.

Monday evening though, Rein added another accomplishment to her already stellar career: college commit.

Following her graduation, Rein will be diving into the college waters as a member of the Evansville University Purple Aces swim team in Indiana, where she will be majoring in nursing and swimming in the 100 and 200-yard butterfly along with occasional backstroke events.

Evansville University is an NCAA Division 1 college, and a member of the Missouri Valley Conference.

“I’m definitely nervous, but very excited to be going to Evansville,” Kasey said about her commitment. “This will be a great new adventure for me to embark on and I can’t wait for it to get started. I never thought when I first started swimming that I would be in this position.” Read more →
